1. Exclusive Advice: Please rely solely on these aftercare guidelines and avoid seeking advice elsewhere.
2. Saniderm Bandage: Keep the Saniderm bandage in place for 3 days. It’s normal to notice slight bleeding and pigment pooling, which won’t harm the tattoo. If the bandage leaks fluid, remove it immediately, and wash the tattoo with liquid antibacterial soap 3-4 times. Be gentle, don’t scrub, and pat it dry.
3. Post-3 Days: After 3 days, remove the bandage and carefully cleanse the tattoo with liquid antibacterial soap in warm water 3-4 times, then gently pat dry to prevent scabbing (avoid rubbing).
4. Moisturizing: Once the tattoo is dry, use a small amount of unscented lotion, such as Curel Daily Healing or green Aveeno. Don’t overuse lotion; apply it up to 3 times a day or as needed. Avoid Aquaphor or A&D ointment.
5. Regular Cleaning: Continue cleaning the tattoo with liquid antibacterial soap 3 times a day for 2 weeks.
6. Normal Healing: Expect your tattoo to flake, scab, itch, and peel – this is part of the natural healing process. Resist the urge to scratch or pick at it.
7. Sun Protection: Avoid direct sunlight and sunburns.
8. Pet Precaution: Steer clear of pet fur and pet saliva.
9. Water Avoidance: Don’t submerge your tattoo in water during the 2-week healing period – no pool, sauna, bath, beach, or jacuzzi. Quick showers are fine; try to prevent body wash or hair products from getting on the tattoo.
10. Activity Caution: Be cautious with activities that could expose your fresh tattoo to dirt, like hiking, sports, and gardening.
11. Complete Healing: After 2 weeks, your tattoo should be fully healed.
First and foremost DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PIERCING OR PIERCING SITE!!! Using
Saline solution containing .09% sodium chloride as the only ingredient. Alternatively
you can use a fragrance free liquid antibacterial soap such as Dial Gold.
Cleaning instructions:
• Wash hands thoroughly with hot water and antibacterial soap before and after
touching or cleaning the piercing site.
• Saline rinse three times a day for two weeks and once a day after the two weeks for
the life of the piercing. For certain placements it may be easier to apply using clean
gauze saturated with saline solution. A brief rinse afterward will remove any residue. If
using a fragrance free liquid antibacterial soap be sure to rinse any and all soap
residue off of jewelry and piercing site.
• Dry by gently patting with clean, disposable paper products because cloth towels
can harbor bacteria and snag on jewelry, causing injury.
What to expect:
• Initially: some bleeding, swelling, tenderness, or bruising.
• During Healing: some discoloration, itching, secretion of whitish-yellow fluid that
forms a crust on the jewelry, tissue may tighten around jewelry while healing.
